Democracy Alliance Would Like to “Educate the Idiots”

October 2, 2008

Facethestate via Drudge reports that the Colorado Democracy Alliancce is rallying its operatives in Colorado.  They link to an internal memo which seeks to “educate the idiots” in order to get out the vote for “minorities, GEDs, [and] drop-outs.” This does not appear to be some fringe group, but the memo names high-level elected Democrats including House Speaker Andrew Romanoff, former Senate President Joan Fitz-Gerald, as well as Gov. Bill Ritter’s press aide and former campaign chief Evan Dreyer. All are specially marked as “off-the-record or covert.”

I am not sure the legality of elected officials coordinating with a 527, but beyond those implications, this does nothing but reinforce the notion that Democrats look down on those whose support they seek. THe term “idiot” is bandied about often on their blogs and message boards and applies to anyone with a different opinion.

With this and the registration of homeless in Ohio, it is looking ugly out there. If someone is not actively ready to vote in this election, they are likely not apprised of the issues the country faces and thier vote will not hinge on other factors. People need to vote for the candidate that will support the country’s best interests first (those interests being lower taxes for anyone who works, security, national defense, and nuclear proliferation) and the best interests of the individual as a close second.

Senate Passes Crap Sandwich 75-24

October 2, 2008

Yahoo News reports that the Senate just passed this 700 billion dollar turd with the three senators in the race voting for it. Interestingly though, it is unclear whether or not the House will pass this bill. Jake Tapper reports that neither Steny Hoyer or Roy Blount, in the House, signed off on the bill.  They only need to switch 11 votes.  As you may recall, the failout failed 205–28 on Monday. The bill, which last week was 3 pages, ended up being almost 500 pages and loaded to the gills with “tax extenders and pork barrel projects. There is a chance that 17 democrats may switch their yea votes to nays.
